City Description

Fukuoka, the capital of Kyushu
City Description

Since the old days, Fukuoka has been Japan’s gateway to KOrea and China, and an international city that spread foreign cultures throughout Japan. And perhaps for this reason, it is more open and free than other cities in Japan. It is a small city where nature, history, and tradition are in harmony with the charms of a modern city.

Fukuoka is known as one of the most famous gourmet cities in Japan. It is a delight to choose tasty foods of your preference including fresh sashimi, beef tripe hot pot, boiled meat, and gyoza.

Many visitors come for Hakata ramen, as Fukuoka is one of the three most famous regions for ramen noodles.

Travel Tip

1. Shopping
You can shop at Hakata Station, Tenjin and Canal City.
2. Food
Surrounded by the ocean, it has easy access to fresh seafood.
When the night falls, food carts line up to sell ramen noodles, chicken skewers, oden, and more.
Recently, western menus have also risen to popularity.
3. Be sure to arrive on time for buses.
Punctuality is essential in Japan, so make sure to check the bus schedule. On weekends, in particular, buses run much less frequently depending on the route, so you should check the departure time before you go off sightseeing.
4. Transportation
Conveniently take public transportation like the JR, nishitetsu (tram or bus), or subway to get here.
The bus fare for all routes from Tenjin to Hakata is JPY 100.
