City Description

Jakarta, the center of Indonesian politics and economy
City Description

Jakarta’s architecture is characterized by the influence of the Netherlands, with architectural styles of the East and the West.

For those who are visiting Jakarta for the first time, the sight of cars and motorcycles on the road together may make the city seem very crowded, but there are unspoken rules among the locals. When you come to Jakarta, your heart will melt at the shy smiles of the local people.

Jakarta is a commercially developed city and therefore was not established as a tourist destination, but there are many spots that impress tourists.

Travel Tip

1. Tips on Getting To City from Airport
You can take a taxi, local bus, or airport railway from the airport to downtown Jakarta. You could also use taxi application to book a cab in advance. When people arrive in Indonesia for the first time, they usually take a taxi. You can easily get on your cab from taxi platform outside the airport.
2. Jakarta Shopping Tips
Shopping is a must in Jakarta, where modern and diverse mall cultures are formed.
You can check Jakarta’s diverse mall culture at various shopping malls such as Grand Indonesia, Senayan City, Pacific Place, Plaza Indonesia, Central Park, etc..
3. What To Pack
Because of the hot and humid weather in Jakarta, you might only want to wear short and cool clothes. But we suggest you to also bring a thick, long-sleeved top because most buildings are very well air-conditioned inside. In addition, some tourist site has it own dress codes, so we advise you to bring a long-sleeved top and trousers/long skirt.

The weather in Jakarta is sunny and often rains suddenly, so it's an important tip to bring sunscreen and umbrella.
