Busan is South KOrea’s second largest city. Since the opening of Busan to international ports in 1876, it has played a central role in cultural exchanges. The British consulate was established in 1883, and the consulate of the Chinese Qing dynasty was established in 1884. In the 1960s to 1970s, Busan played a leading role in the economic development of South KOrea. Today, it has grown into South KOrea’s greatest port city, in charge of international distribution and exchange. It is developing into one of the five cities in the world that handles 95% of export container cargo.
Busan is famous for being a marine tourist city. At Jagalchi Market, you can enjoy freshly caught seafood cooked right away or enjoy it raw. Doejigukbab, boiled pork soup with rice, and milmyeon, wheat noodles in cool broth, are Busan’s delicacies. Haeundae Beach and Songdo Beach are famous spots to enjoy the beach, and you can enjoy night views of Gwangan Bridge at Gwangalli Beach.
